“With UK Bound, I continue my exploration of identity and place, delving into pertinent Bermudian issues with the recognition that they resonate as universal themes. A noticeable trend among Bermudians is the increasing number choosing to relocate, with a significant portion opting for the United Kingdom. This migration to the metropolis is a twist to the concept of being UK bound. In my exploration, I utilise pawpaws as iconic symbols. Introduced to Bermuda in 1616 from the Caribbean, these fruits adapted seamlessly, evolving into a reliable staple that aptly represents the resilient population that has thrived in this remote location for centuries. Is this resilience now diminishing? What significance lies in the decision of island colony members to leave their homeland for the metropole?”
