Glad to See You
mixed media on irregular canvas, 9'x7'

This triptych composition is my response to what is considered by many to be the ‘new normal’.  My manipulation of negative and positive spaces reference coexisting and contrasting realities during mid-pandemic life.

My contemplation of the massive global shifts of the past two years, accompanied by confusion, isolation, and blame, has deepened my appreciation that the present contains highlights and joys that are easily overlooked.

As I observed from my palace of supposed importance, I sought and enjoyed opportunities where association and communication become possible. For me, these moments were valuable. Envisioning beyond that point, I want relationships to supersede the material. While anticipating hope, the present is precious.

In the last two years, I have said more than ever before-

I am glad to see you.
